Fruity and mighty: Sweet secrets of Mediterranean delicacies

The Mediterranean is blooming with fruits all the time. Fresh, sweet, and temptingly delicious, why would they be saved for desserts only?

Mediterranean diet is not only about geography and nutritionism; it’s about the state of mind and body as well as the metaphysics of the soul. It’s not only about what you eat; it’s when, where, how, and why you eat – mind you, it’s never about how much you eat because one simply can’t get enough of the real Mediterranean delicacies – but also how you think, where you go out, what you believe in, what you hope for. This way, cooking becomes a philosophy, choosing ingredients a psychological exercise, preparation a pure art, and the meal itself a religious ceremony where not only the food plays a part: what matters is also the location of its origin and the amassed flock that’s eating it. It’s a ceremony where one swears allegiance to Mother Earth, Father Sea, and God Sun, the holy trinity that showers us with fruits of health, freshness, and delight all year round.

Start to finish

Those fruits are a cult unto itself, because, depending on the season, the locals worship fig, watermelon, peach, tangerine, tomato, or cherry without caring much about the technicalities of differentiating fruits from vegetables or their position on the menu. When the season of fruit comes, we use it everywhere! Pomegranate salad, why not? Grilled watermelon? Go for it! Nuts with pasta, oh yes! Pašticada without plum? Impossible! The citrus fruits are not even worth discussing as those are to be found in many dishes across the Mediterranean menu, from cold starters to desserts. Some would even squeeze it in their wine!

The cult of juicy fruits

Even our staff worship the cult of juicy fruits. For this reason, our menu is full of sweet and tender tastes one can find even in the places least to expect. You’ll be amazed by the light texture of the smoked swordfish mixed with bursting orange notes once you try our carpaccio. The orange will also give a certain spark of freshness to our ceviche, while the apricot cream represents an amazingly effective counterpart to the utter tastiness of burrata. Without the forest fruits, our beef tail risotto wouldn’t be half as tasty, mystical, charming, daring – and worshiped. We’re not geographically exclusive when it comes to the choice of fruit. Mango rolls can confirm that, as mango and avocado emphasize the freshness and tenderness of Adriatic shrimps. We won’t even mention all kinds of specialties where mighty yuzu plays a pivotal role in the taste.

Resistance is futile

The cult of the Mediterranean diet is impossible to escape. And why would you anyway? Banish the worries, forget about the prejudices, and give in to the sweetness of the juiciest fruits in expected and downright eccentric situations. Mother Earth, Father Sea, and God Sun will ensure you reach the epiphany and leave the ceremony a full-fledged believer.
