Yuzu: A citrus star of the Japanese cuisine

At first glance, yuzu resembles a somewhat strange lemon. However, it would be a mistake to judge it by its look as the uneven and slightly rough peel hides an explosion of taste. A unique flavor that combines the taste of orange, lemon, tangerine, and grapefruit is common in Japanese cuisine. To try it, you don’t have to travel all the way to Japan – visit our restaurant instead!

Yuzu, a Japanese lemon originating from China, is highly popular in the Far East due to its refreshing taste. On our end, it is still a rarity to ask for it in a grocery shop. However, this has started to change with the rising number of restaurants offering authentic Japanese cuisine, and yuzu is slowly but surely finding its way to the West.

A firework for your taste buds

A peculiar taste makes yuzu a great addition to many dishes because its juice isn’t sour but more like a mix of several citrus flavors. The aromatic zest and refreshing juice of this exotic fruit cultivated in Southeast Asia are a perfect final touch for meals inspired by tradition. If you are in doubt, come to our restaurant and try some (or all) of our delicious starters: tuna tartare, ceviche, or tuna tika taka. All of them have been crowned with beads with yuzu aroma to perfectly suit the palates of demanding gourmets. Yuzu will perfectly blend with fish, soups, and fresh salads. For final touch it’s enough to grate some peel over the dish. It’s also an excellent addition to seafood, so sushi and sashimi just love it.

So much more than an ordinary lemon

Nutritional value and use of yuzu are no longer restricted to Asian cuisine. This fruit contains twice as many antioxidants as one can find in lemon and an abundance of valuable compounds, which make it a perfect asset of the cosmetic industry: it is used in the production of tea, beauty products, and many products beneficial for health. It is a known fact yuzu helps in preventing blood clots, and its scent will positively affect your mood, so it is often used in candles and essential oils.

Come by our restaurant, try a dish with yuzu, and instantly feel better – mentally and physically!
